A new kitchen is a large investment and should be done once and done right. Many companies will tell you that they are selling wood cabinets but will not specify what part is wood (usually just the faces — the boxes are particle board). Our cabinets are made completely of wood — back, front, sides, drawers, etc. Kitchen and bath cabinets do get wet and particle board does swell, like a sponge. What happens to a sponge after repeatedly being wet and then dry again? This is the same with particle board. Wood cabinets will definitely last longer under regular usage.
